I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The presentation is disjointed, as you read you jump both in time and perspective. It takes very nearly until the close of the book to really find out what happened to cause all of the emotions and events that this family must live with. What we know to begin the novel is that a family from Istanbul has moved to England and are now living in a disjointed world as all three children have different levels of involvement with their world. What we spend the novel waiting to determine is what happened to Pembe, their mother.
Neither does covering the Snowden case make The Guardian a source you should now trust and worship. Do these talking heads have no shame? Do those who listen to them have no brain? Opportunities to question, explore, and learn are all around you. Why not use them?
