A word from the Chair. I am thankful to my colleague parliamentarians to have entrusted me the Chairmanship of the Delegation for relations with South Africa. South Africa represents a unique partner for the European Union. Together we have walked a long way, deepening our relationship and laying the foundations of a prosperous future. South Africa and the European Union maintain, through the work of this delegation, a solid and constructive parliamentary dialogue, thus providing an additional political dimension to the EU - South Africa strategic partnership. Through collaboration and open dialogue, parliamentary diplomacy between South Africa and the EU aims to uphold human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

A series of interventions have been jotted-up, to help prevent the same chaotic scenes we witnessed over the festive season from happening again. A ticket system will also be introduced, ensuring that there will be no huge swell of crowds that could cause a super-spreader event. Going forward, international travel will be regulated in a stricter fashion…. We also want them to send more people to deal with higher demand. Queue management systems must be upgraded and reviewed.
Cuba’s ‘medical brigade’ to arrive in South Africa to help flatten curve
The residents of a Bedouin community in the northern Jordan Valley are the latest victims of widespread displacement by the Israeli army which generally clears areas for the construction of settlements for Israeli citizens. The Bedouin community was given verbal orders to leave their homes prior to the bulldozers being brought in. The UN delegation on Friday also expressed concern that 53 schools, attended by thousands of Palestinian school children currently have demolition orders on them. The delegation of three high-level UN officials met Thursday with members of the Bedouin community, who were ousted from their homes earlier this week while their belongings were "seized or destroyed.
South Africa is a major destination and transit country for migrants from the Eastern and Southern Africa regions and beyond. Though the Southern African route receives far less public attention than the Central Mediterranean route, the dangers and risks that migrants face along this route are of similar concern from a humanitarian perspective. Along the journey and within the country, migrants often face intense hardships and violations of their fundamental rights.
